Mathias Scharsig

Freelance shoe designer and developer. My passion for shoes began in 2002  with my apprenticeship as a shoe manufacturer.  It has stayed with me ever since. Over the past 20 years, I have had the privilege of transforming countless creative ideas into wearable, marketable products – from initial sketches to bulk production.

My journey has led me from craftsmanship to creative collection design and technical implementation for international brands in the women's, men's and children's footwear. Today, I combine these two demands: innovative shoe design and technical production support – flexible, tailored to the needs of my clients.

What sets me apart

  • Over 20 years of experience in international shoe design
  • Collection development for women's, men's and children's shoes
  • Technical production support from prototype to bulk manufacturing
  • A keen sense of trends and details, inspired by fashion cities and boutiques
  • Use of modern tools (3D design, AI) for efficient processes

Professional experience

I work internationally – from Europe to Asia – attending regularly trend and fashion fairs. I find inspiration in the major fashion cities such as London, Paris and Milan, but also in small boutiques in the Netherlands and Belgium.

I don’t just spot trends – I transform them into tangible designs, collections, and material concepts. I use modern technologies such as 3D design and AI to visualise ideas and collaborate efficiently with manufacturers and teams.

I personally accompany every project, ensuring it reaches completion – until the shoe fits on the foot.

Shoes are more than just a product to me – they embody style, function, and personality. I infuse each of my projects with this belief
